The Panoramic was originally conceived in the mid 80's as a fund raiser for the planned Olympic Hall of Fame which was to be part of the Jimmy Camp development. When that fell through, the event was moved to Palmer Park and the Deaf and Blind School was designated as recipients. The race was a 5 miler in Palmer Park, and was changed to 4 miles when the venue changed to Bear Creek Park in 2000. This event now has a Kids 1 mile run, 2 mile and 4 mile. It is also part of the Summer Series.
It's a beautiful course, with one portion with a good climb for hill training. The course is mainly on dirt trails in Bear Creek Park, but there is a short distance on a paved entry road and a gravel parking lot. There are a few decent hills to keep the thrills at a high level. Elevation is around 6,200 feet.

more information from RRCA on the policy Following guidelines from the Road Runners of Clubs of America (RRCA), Pikes Peak Road Runners discourages and in most cases, does not allow use of headphones in its races. The rationale for this is simple: the majority of our races are held on trails, which are crowded with many other runners (and sometimes other trail users). Maintaining one’s sensory capacity during such situations is paramount for the safety of all participants.
